Abstract

Most of the patients with thorax trauma die because of preventable causes. One of the procedures which can be applied to decrease the deaths is emergency department recussitative thoracotomy (EDRT). EDRT is required for 10% of blunt and 15-30% of penetrating thorax trauma victims. EDRT is a life saving procedure when applied in appropriate indications by emergency physicians or surgeons who are knowledgeable and skillful. In the present article, we report three-cases of two penetrating and one blunt chest trauma undergone EDRT. We aimed to point out the importance of EDRT and to encourage the physicians on it.
